Specifications
Dual Coat has been designed for use on any mild steel fabrication, including all types of architectural and structural steel. It involves the process of applying a two coat system of factory controlled applications. This will give corrosive protection for between 30-150 years, environment dependent, and aesthetic colour application of up to 25 - 30 years before first major maintenance.
The primer coat is hot dip galvanizing the metal substrate, in full accordance with ISO 1461:2009. Following this full mechanical and chemical pre-treatment must be applied prior to the application of the powder coating. The top coat is powder coating, and must be applied in full accordance with BS EN 13438:2005.
This coating is available in a wide stock range, including RAL colours, BS colours, textures, anti graffiti and warm to the touch technologies. Dual Coat has been specifically formulated using TGIC (a harmful chemical previously used in powder formulation) free technology. As an Architectural coating it gives excellent exterior & interior durability along with colour retention. Dual Coat conforms with the requirements of all the European Architectural finishing standards.
Applicator Conditions
Dual Coat must be applied by a member of The Galvanizers Association, and also be an Du Pont approved applicator for powder coating on to a galvanized substrate.
The applicator MUST be able to offer an optional guarantee to first major maintenance of up to 25 years, environment dependent. This guarantee should cover all aspects of the powder coating performance, as well as the bond between substrates.

Pre Treatment
For maximum protection it is essential to pretreat architectural components prior to the application of Dual Coat.
Galvanized steel requires surface preparation by multi-stage pretreatment using a conversion coating & then de-gassing prior to coating.
Application
Dual Coat can be applied by manual or automatic electrostatic spray. For solid shades unused powder can be reclaimed using suitable equipment & recycled through the coating system. Detailed information & specific advice for special finishes are available upon request.
Post Application
For advice on the suitability of post coating processes such as the use of sealants, adhesives, thermal break, cleaning & maintenance please consult your Dual Coat provider.
